As a CCAC, we help people stay safe, healthy and independent at home. However, we can’t – and don’t – do this alone. Every day, ordinary people in our community go to extraordinary lengths to improve the lives of those limited by age, illness and disability. These caregivers – family members, friends, care professionals or otherwise – give selflessly to support others in their community.
To pay tribute to these caregivers, the Central West CCAC has launched Heroes in the Home, a recognition program to salute the efforts of the many paid and unpaid caregivers who, through their efforts, help others remain independent at home. Any volunteer or professional caregiver can be nominated for the award; nominees might include a husband caring for his chronically-ill wife, a daughter helping her elderly mother live independently, or a personal support worker whose home visits are essential to a person with disabilities.
Many of us probably know people who deserve to be recognized. Please help spread the word about this exciting new program by encouraging others to nominate these special people, or by nominating them yourselves.
All Heroes in the Home nominees will receive certificates of recognition and will be honoured at awards ceremonies in October 2012. Please help us honour our community’s special caregivers today!
