Every day, people in our community go to great lengths to improve the lives of those limited by age, illness or disability. To help recognize these caregivers, the Central West CCAC is again accepting nominations for our second annual Heroes in the Home Caregiver Awards.
If you missed it last year, the Heroes in the Home program invites residents to nominate outstanding caregivers who, through their efforts, have helped others to remain independent at home. Any volunteer or professional caregiver can be nominated for the award; nominees might include a husband caring for his chronically-ill wife, a daughter helping her elderly father live independently, or a personal support worker whose home visits are essential to a person with disabilities.
Last October, the Central West CCAC presented 118 local caregivers with recognition awards during a special ceremony. Their feedback was amazing – I can’t tell you how many people said it was the first time they had been acknowledged for their efforts, or how special it made them feel.
Whether through our professional or personal lives, many of us probably know people who deserve to be recognized for helping others maintain their health and independence at home. To help acknowledge their contributions, we’ve just extended the nomination deadline for this year’s award to October 11, 2013. Nominations are being accepted online (www.heroesinthehomecwccac.com), via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), and over the phone (#905-796-0040, ext. 7756). All Heroes in the Home nominees will receive certificates of recognition and will be honoured at awards ceremonies later this fall. Please help us honour our community’s special caregivers today!
